Sweden has signed an agreement with the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF) on support to private sector development in post-conflict countries. The contribution of 20 million US dollars runs over a five year period. Among the countries that is included in AECF's Post-Conflict Window is the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan and Zimbabwe.
To highlight the Swedish contribution, H.E. Ambassador Ann Dismorr hosted a reception in Nairobi on the 22 March 2012. Among the guests were representatives from AECF, its parent organisation Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), UNDP Somalia and Sweden. In her remarks, Ambassador Dismorr underlined the importance of the private sector in reducing poverty and creating sustainable growth. As a development partner Sweden seeks to enhance its cooperation also with the private sector and the support to AECF is part of this strive.
